# Platform overview

> Understand the customer-facing services and control planes available in Aptranet.

Aptranet provides a Management Console and HTTP API for operating Cloud CDN, Cloud DNS, Cloud Shield, and TLS Manager resources. Both interfaces use the same organization, project, permission, and quota model.

## Interfaces

| Interface | Address | Best for |
| - | - | - |
| Management Console | `https://console.aptranet.com` | Initial setup, visual configuration, billing, identity, and investigation |
| API | `https://api.aptranet.com` | Automation, repeatable changes, integrations, and infrastructure workflows |
| Status | `https://status.aptranet.com` | Service health and incident updates |

## Cloud CDN

Cloud CDN accepts requests on an Aptranet hostname or your custom hostname, applies distribution configuration at the edge, and retrieves cache misses from an origin group. A distribution can control cache keys and TTLs, TLS, compression, HTTP methods, headers, access controls, image conversion, purge, prefetch, and analytics.

## Cloud DNS

Cloud DNS hosts authoritative zones and their record sets. Standard answers can be extended with weighted, geographic, network-aware, and failover selection. Health checks can remove unavailable resources from eligible answers.

## Cloud Shield

Cloud Shield attaches application protection to existing Cloud CDN distributions. Manage policies and rules, investigate security events and DDoS activity, discover API endpoints, and use your plan's enabled workspace features.

## TLS Manager

TLS Manager shows managed and imported certificates for the selected project. Import certificates, inspect issuance and expiry, and track consuming distributions.

## Shared controls

* Organizations contain members and billing.
* Projects isolate resources, API keys, member permissions, and quotas.
* API keys inherit one project and an explicit permission document.
* Services must be active for their resource endpoints to operate.
* Customer-facing API responses are marked as non-cacheable by the Gateway.
