# Cloud DNS analytics

> Review zone query volume and record-type traffic over time.

Zone analytics return zone status and a time series of total requests and common query types.

## Available series

* Total requests.
* A and AAAA requests.
* NS and CNAME requests.
* MX and TXT requests.
* SRV and CAA requests.

```bash theme={null}
curl --request GET \
  --url "https://api.aptranet.com/cloud-dns/analytics?zone_id=17" \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $APTRANET_ACCESS_KEY" \
  --header "Aptranet-Secret: $APTRANET_SECRET"
```

## Interpret changes

* A or AAAA increases normally track application traffic or resolver-cache expiry.
* TXT spikes can come from verification, mail-policy checks, or automated scanning.
* NS volume can rise during delegation changes or cache churn.
* A sudden drop to zero can indicate delegation, zone status, or collection problems; compare public authority and platform status.

DNS query counts describe resolver behavior, not unique people or page views. Recursive resolvers cache answers and aggregate many clients behind fewer authoritative queries.
