# Cloud CDN quickstart

> Create an origin group and distribution, test the edge hostname, and connect a custom hostname.

## Prerequisites

* An active Cloud CDN plan.
* A selected project.
* A publicly reachable origin hostname or IP address.
* Permission to create origin groups and distributions.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create an origin group">
    Open **Cloud CDN → Origin groups → Create origin group**. Enter a name and add an enabled origin. Enter the hostname or IP without `http://` or `https://`; use a port only when it differs from 80 or 443.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a distribution">
    Open **Cloud CDN → Distributions → Create distribution**. Choose the origin group and select the origin connection protocol. Use HTTPS when the origin supports a valid certificate.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for provisioning">
    Open the distribution after its status becomes active. Copy its Aptranet hostname and request a known path.

    ```bash theme={null}
    curl --head https://YOUR_DISTRIBUTION_HOSTNAME/
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set cache and TLS behavior">
    Review **Cache**, **TLS**, and **Origin** before production traffic. Keep authenticated and private responses out of shared cache.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Attach a custom hostname">
    Add the hostname under **Network**, save the configuration, and point its DNS record to the distribution hostname. Wait for the hostname and certificate state to become available before enforcing HTTPS.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify delivery">
    Request the custom hostname, validate status and headers, and check analytics after traffic arrives.

    ```bash theme={null}
    curl --verbose https://cdn.example.com/assets/app.css --output /dev/null
    ```
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Do not move production DNS until the distribution works on its Aptranet hostname and the custom hostname is provisioned.
</Warning>
